The researcher Antonio Armario will lead the debate on the quality of biological analyses and his direct involvement in the clinic.
The aim is to highlight, with the examples of some cytokines and oxytocin, the problems of interpretation of the results of the quantification of biological parameters as biomarkers in psychiatry
Likewise, it will be discussed reliability of quantification methods (like ELISA or platforms like Luminex) and the relationship between the measurements obtained in different biological fluids (eg plasma/serum, saliva, cerebrospinal fluid).
Armario is Professor of Physiology at the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and coordinator of the SGR group on Neurobiology of stress and vulnerability to psychopathology.
The session is part of the series of seminars Scientific evenings in mental health and translational neuroscience which aim to publicize the lines of research and projects of the G29 CIBERSAM group in order to promote collaborations and new network projects in the field of mental health.
