Bernardo García Núñez is the new director of the Women and Children Care area; Xavier Serra Aracil is the new director of the General Surgery Service and the Digestive System; i Paula Saludes Orduña she will join on September 6 as deputy assistant director of Parc Taulí.
With these appointments of the Governing Council of the Parc Taulí, held last July 27, the relief is carried out in the departments of care for women and children and general surgery, and the figure of the assistance sub-directorate is created.
Bernardo Núñez García, new director of the Women and Children Care area
The new director of the Women's and Children's Care area studied Medicine in Salamanca and specialized at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona. He joined Parc Taulí in 2011, as assistant and resident tutor, served as coordinator of this service since February 2017 and was appointed director of the Pediatric Surgery Service in October 2018, position which will continue to exercise.
As a pediatric surgeon, he is an expert in thorax and minimally invasive surgery, and in the surgical correction of Pectus Excavatum (subject of his thesis). In the field of management, the University Expert Course in Clinical Management and the Master's in Hospital Management and Health Services of the University of Barcelona stand out in their training. Regarding the teaching field, Núñez is also an associate professor at the UAB - Parc Taulí Teaching Unit.
On the other hand, he is vice-president of the Catalan Society of Pediatrics and a member of the Catalan Society of Health Management; of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Surgery and the Spanish Society of Surgical Research, the Spanish Association of Pediatrics among others.
Dr. Núñez takes over in the direction of the area from Dra. Pepi Rivera who was recently appointed head of studies at Parc Taulí.
Xavier Serra Aracil, new director of the General Surgery Service and the Digestive System
Dr. Serra is coordinator of the General and Digestive Surgery Service and head of the Colorectal Surgery Unit from 2007 to the present. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the UAB in 1989 and specialist in General and Digestive Surgery and Coloproctology joined Parc Taulí in December 2003.
In the teaching field, Serra is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at the UAB, professor of advanced colorectal surgery courses at IRCAD Strasbourg and Brazil since 2015 and director of advanced colorectal surgery courses at IRCAD Strasbourg. With a long research career, he has given more than 125 conferences at national and international level and published 144 articles.
In 2010 he received the National Surgery Award from the Spanish Association of Surgeons and the Spanish Association of Coloproctology, and is accredited as a university professor by the Agency for the Quality of the University System of Catalonia in Research from 2021.
Dr. Serra takes over from Dr. Salvador Navarro who has been appointed dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the UAB.
Paula Saludes Orduña, new assistant director of care
Dr. Saludes will join on September 6 as the new assistant director of care at Parc Taulí. She graduated in Medicine and General Surgery from the UAB in 2009 and specialized in Intensive Care Medicine at Parc Taulí.
Dr. Saludes has been working at HM Delfos Hospital, first as coordinator of the Intensive Care Service and Coronary Unit, and since 2020 as medical director.
We will expand the information to present Dra. Greetings, and the new position she will occupy as Assistant Director of Care at Parc Taulí, in the coming weeks.
