Press release from the Department of Health. Information updated on 26/09/2014 at 18.34:XNUMX p.m.

To date, there are 11 people admitted, maintaining the number of cases

The Catalan Public Health Agency is continuing its investigations into the cases of legionellosis reported during these weeks in the Vallès Occidental. We are currently working on the hypothesis of two outbreaks of the disease located in Sabadell and Ripollet

In the last 24 hours there have been 3 more discharges compared to yesterday; however, some cases may still appear following the predicted epidemiological pattern.

The Catalan Public Health Agency (ASPCAT) together with the Sabadell and Ripollet City Councils initiated the control actions immediately upon the declaration of the outbreaks, in accordance with the established procedures.

Epidemiological research shows that outbreaks are under control. There have been no cases of onset of symptoms for almost a week in the Sabadell outbreak and for ten days in the Ripollet outbreak.

All those affected have been infected before carrying out control actions (sampling and cleaning of the facilities started on 15/9).

It will be reported as soon as we have the results of the environmental analyzes carried out in all the facilities with possible involvement (Sabadell 29/9 and Ripollet 3/10) and in the biological samples of the patients (during the week of 6/10).
