Press release from the Department of Health. Information updated on 29/09/2014 at 15.10:XNUMX p.m.
To date, there are 11 people admitted, maintaining the number of cases
The Catalan Public Health Agency is continuing its investigations into the cases of legionellosis reported during these weeks in the Vallès Occidental. We are currently working on the hypothesis of two outbreaks of the disease located in Sabadell and Ripollet.
There have been no changes in the number of people affected in the last 24 hours; however, some cases may still appear following the predicted epidemiological pattern.
The Catalan Public Health Agency (ASPCAT) together with the Sabadell and Ripollet City Councils initiated the control actions immediately upon the declaration of the outbreaks, in accordance with the established procedures.
Epidemiological research shows that outbreaks are under control. There have been no cases with the onset of symptoms for ten days in the Sabadell outbreak and for thirteen days in the Ripollet outbreak.
All those affected have been infected before carrying out control actions (sampling and cleaning of the facilities started on 15/9).
In the coming days, molecular analysis of environmental and biological samples will be carried out as planned in the research.
As no new cases have been reported in the last four days, it will be reported when the results of the ongoing investigation are available or when any news of interest occurs.
