For the second consecutive year, the Emergency Service of the Hospital de Sabadell has received the 'Best in Class' award in the category of best emergency service for its quality in patient care. The 'Best in Class' awards are an initiative promoted by Gaceta Médica, published by the publisher Contenidos e Información de Salud, and the Chair of Health Innovation and Management at the Rey Juan Carlos University.
The purpose of these awards is to recognize the best services or units in the country, who seek excellence in the care they provide to their patients
The purpose of these awards is to publicly and annually recognize the best primary care center, the best hospital and the best services or units in the country, both public and private, seeking excellence in care they give their patients.
The awards ceremony, which was held yesterday at the World Trade Center in Barcelona, was attended by the Director General of the Parc Taulí, Joan Martí, the Director of the Emergency Service, Mª Luisa Iglesias, the Coordinator of the Support for Emergency Services, Francisco Epelde and emergency care managers, Alfons López and Pilar Cores.
In this edition, 655 applications from more than 360 centers have been submitted to any of the 39 categories subject to the ICAP index (Patient Assistance Quality Index prepared by the Chair of Innovation and Health Management of the Rey Juan Carlos University) and ESHealth.
The awarding of the various awards is based on the score obtained by the candidates through the ICAP, prepared especially for these awards, and which is established based on the multivariate analysis of the data collected. The indicators that are scored are the data of assistance, teaching and research activity. They are valued, among other things, the care volume of the service (number of daily and annual emergencies), the application of care codes and protocols, and the teaching and research activity of the professionals.
The Chair of Innovation and Health Management of the Rey Juan Carlos University collaborates in this project, contributing their knowledge to establish an independent and reliable system that allows the monitoring of the quality of care. The different scientific societies collaborate in the elaboration and updating of the questionnaires that serve to evaluate the quality in each of the areas. The winners and finalists are part of the Guide to the Best Hospitals and Health Services that is published annually.
