One hundred volunteers collaborate in accompanying and supporting patients, coordinated by the Parc Taulí Volunteer Plan
More than 1.000 patients have been cared for by the hundred volunteers of Parc Taulí throughout 2014, in accompaniment or support tasks, always with a complementarity function with the health and social team. In recognition of his work, Parc Taulí is holding an event next Wednesday, June 3, to pay tribute to the entire volunteer team of the institution, which is coordinated and managed by the Volunteer Plan.
A stable team has been consolidated, with a group of people who give continuity and stability to the program
Five years after the launch of the Parc Taulí Volunteer Plan, the assessment is positive, both by professionals and by volunteers and patients themselves. The coordinator of the Volunteer Plan, Auxi Gil, emphasizes that during this time "despite the usual rotation of volunteers, a stable team has been consolidated, with a group of people who give continuity and stability to the program."
Auxi Gil points out that there is an increase in the demand for volunteering in the different centers of Parc Taulí, and it is for this reason that an active recruitment of volunteers is being done in some of the programs.
The total number of hours of volunteer work in all the centers was more than 6.000 hours per year in 2014. Volunteering is adapted to the specificities of each unit (mental health, the elderly, paediatrics, chronic diseases,…) coordinator also highlights the growing interest and commitment of professionals in the institution with the figure of volunteering.
One of the most important innovations of 2014 is the launch of a specific program in Sabadell Gent Gran that offers more individualized attention and support to users of the center, complementing the volunteer program of the choir of the center itself that already operates from for years.
What do you need to do to volunteer at Parc Taulí?
The Parc Taulí Volunteer Plan is in the process of attracting new volunteers to respond to the continuous increase in the demand for volunteer services within the centers. People interested in getting involved in the project are invited to participate, willing to offer quality volunteering based on training and supervision of volunteer work. The next basic training is scheduled for July 6 and 8 and is aimed at all people who want to volunteer at Parc Taulí.
The average volunteer dedication is 3 hours per week, one fixed day per week, and involves a minimum commitment of one year, mandatory training, and attendance at regular coordination meetings.
Interested people can download a form online, on the space Volunteering on the Parc Taulí website, or go personally to the Customer Service Secretariat (ground floor Taulí building) and fill it in with personal details to arrange an interview.
