Since January, and as every year since 2002, the CAP welcomes first, third and sixth grade students from public schools in the neighborhood to give talks and oral health reviews.
On June 2, as part of the 'Oral Health' program, the centre's professionals gave a talk aimed at first-year children at the Virulet school with the aim of making schoolchildren aware of the importance of taking care of their children. teeth.
The oral health team carries out reviews on the school population aged 6 to 12, the purpose of which is to prevent cariogenic disease. During this time, there has been an increase in caries in 6-year-olds visiting the dentist for the first time. It has also increased the number of visits from parents with children aged 2, 3 or 4 who consult, usually referred by their pediatrician, for caries in their children's oral cavity, accompanied or not, by dental malocclusion.
All of this has raised some issues, such as the need to inform parents, during early childhood, of the importance of certain habits in the feeding of their children. That is, do not wait for the school review of 6 or 7 years, when certain customs are already established. Thus, from the CAP, professionals get in touch with schools, where they travel to hold talks with parents of P3 children and inform them about the prevention of caries and dental malocclusion at these ages.
