Today, Thursday 5 May, is World Hand Hygiene Day, promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO) since 2009.
This celebration aims to raise awareness and involve both health professionals and the directors and managers of health centers in the prevention of infections related to health care through the simple and effective measure of hand hygiene.
Although the responsibility for hand hygiene rests with healthcare professionals, it is recommended to encourage patient participation, commitment and empowerment in the promotion of best hand hygiene practices.
This year, under the slogan "Look at your hands: hand hygiene, key to safe surgical care", the WHO prioritizes the improvement of hand hygiene practices in all surgical services throughout the care process, from surgery plants and operating rooms to outpatient surgery services.
At Parc Taulí we have designed an internal campaign, which is being launched today, using four different models of posters to promote hand hygiene, which can be seen in the different healthcare spaces.
Today we invite you to show your support for the 2016 campaign on social media with the hashtag #safesurgicalhands and mention @parctauli.
