The study, led by a team from the Fundació Parc Taulí in collaboration with the University of Barcelona, began in October 2018. A total of 102 women volunteers have now participated to achieve the ultimate goal of the 'study: helping the recovery and empowerment of women who have suffered gender-based violence.
Despite this high participation, 20 more women are still needed to collaborate in order to achieve the research objectives. Specifically, 10 women are wanted to be part of the group with a history of violence, and 10 to be part of the group without a history. Participants must be between 22 and 45 years old.
Profile of the women participants in the group with a history of violence:
- Having suffered abuse (whether psychological, physical or sexual) by the couple and
- Make at least 1 year of separation with this couple.
Profile of the women participants in the group no history of violence:
- Not having a history of violence by the couple and
- Not have chronic health problems.
What is collaboration?
The women participating in the study will be summoned for two days at Parc Taulí. On the first day they will do a general interview about their health and a blood sample will be taken from them. At the second appointment they will conduct an interview about a simulated situation and some saliva tests.
The duration of each appointment is two hours. In all cases, the anonymity of the participants and the results obtained is guaranteed. The date and time will be agreed individually.
The cost of public transport for participants will be borne by the project.
Receipts of attendance will also be made to participants who wish to do so.
How to participate?
Women interested in collaborating can contact by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org, indicating the reference 'Women's project'.
The deadline to register is February 21, 2020.
