Most professionals at Parc Taulí with previous positive PCR have developed anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, according to the first (provisional) results of the COVID-19 seroprevalence study being carried out at Parc Taulí, with funding from the Banco Sabadell Foundation.
These are the first results, we insist that provisional, of the study that is being done since May 4. As of 14 May, a total of 3.422 questionnaires had been received from professionals interested in participating, of which 3.189 (93,2%) extractions had already been scheduled and 1.392 (43,6%) had been carried out. . Of these, a total of 1.181 professionals have already been reported.
Of the total determinations performed and reported so far, it has been found that 13,3% (n = 157) have developed an immune response (IgG antibodies) against SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
If we break down the results by professionals who had previously performed the PCR determination of SARS-CoV-2 in the nasopharynx:
- Professionals with positive PCR: positive serology 94% (46/49).
- Professionals with negative PCR: positive serology 25.5% (13/51).
- Professionals who did NOT perform PCR: positive serology 9,1% (98 / 1.081). In this group, 5 cases were detected with a NO conclusive result (0,5%).
Given the provisionality of the results, however, we cannot yet draw definitive conclusions.
Once the extractions that are being performed on professionals are completed, the study will continue with the inclusion of another 600 people, who in this case will be patients from the hospital itself and citizens of the reference population.
