Professionals from the different surgical specialties at Parc Taulí are launching the Da Vinci surgical system these days, which has arrived in the operating room to incorporate a significant qualitative improvement into high-complexity surgical interventions.
The Urology Service team has already released it this week in two prostate interventions (prostatectomies). An operation to remove the esophagus (esophagectomy) and an operation for morbid obesity (bariatric surgery) have also been performed.
The Da Vinci robot is a sophisticated surgical instrument that enhances the surgeon's skills because it offers greater vision, precision of movements and control of the intervention in relation to the laparoscopic technique. The device is controlled by a surgeon who operates sitting from a console, from where he has a three-dimensional view of the surgical field and better accessibility to hard-to-reach anatomical areas.
At Parc Taulí, Da Vinci is now available for use in the services of General and Digestive Surgery, Urology and Gynecology in various highly complex surgeries.
The director of the Department of Surgery, Salvador Navarro, advances that although it has begun with these interventions, the use of Da Vinci will be progressively deployed to other specialties and pathologies.
