The President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, the Minister of Health, Josep Maria Argimon, and the Mayor of Sabadell, Marta Farrés, have inaugurated this afternoon the new Ripoll building in Parc Taulí, built to expand and modernize the hospital and make facing the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and the post-pandemic stage.

They were accompanied on the visit by the president of Parc Taulí, Mariona Creus, the general director, Joan Martí, the director of CatSalut, Gemma Craywinckel, the secretary of Health Care and Participation, Meritxell Budó, and the manager of the Metropolitan Area North of CatSalut, Anna Aran, among other representatives of the political, social and health sectors.

The new building is located in the northern area of ​​Parc Taulí, behind the building that houses the hospital (Taulí Building) and facing the Ripoll river. It has 96 beds; 32 semi-critical beds on the first floor; 32 surgical hospitalization beds in the second and 32 more pediatric hospitalization beds in the third. It has involved an investment of 20 million euros, financed with a European FEDER aid through the REACT-UE funds.

Once the Ripoll building is finished, the expansion and modernization project of the Parc Taulí Hospital in Sabadell will continue. The project includes the expansion of care capacity with the fixed structural growth of critical beds, the expansion of the current surgical block and the growth of the emergency department. The refurbishment of the 2nd and 4th floors of the hospital is also planned; as well as new pediatric outpatient clinics and new endoscopy rooms.

In this expansion project, the new Gran Via Frontal building stands out, which will house the emergency service on the ground floor, the extension and refurbishment of the ICU on the first floor and the extension of the surgical block with 8 operating rooms in the second floor. This building is scheduled to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2023.

The general manager of Parc Taulí, Joan Martí, pointed out that "With the new Ripoll building we are gaining in functionality and efficiency, in addition to increasing the number of beds." Martí thanked the Generalitat, the Department of Health and CatSalut for their investment efforts and, above all, their confidence in Parc Taulí.

For her part, the Mayor of Sabadell, Marta Farrés, remarked that "Today is a great day for Sabadell and its region as having a hospital with enormous potential that will improve care, research and teaching."

In total, the Catalan Health Service will have allocated 52,3 million euros to the extension of the Taulí (20 with direct investment in the Ripoll building and 32,3 through European funds for the master plan). To this figure must be added the 9,1 million that the Parc Taulí Hospital itself will invest in the project plus the 4 million allocated by Sabadell City Council.

The Minister of Health, Josep Maria Argimon, has made it clear “The speed in the construction of the Ripoll building that has been eight months and three weeks, a very complicated fact to carry out, which allows us to have a new hospital project, which is this building but also everything that is the Taulí project as a whole, which is 65 million euros in investment ". Argimon emphasized that these are the most important investments in the hospital world that the Generalitat de Catalunya will make in the coming years.

The President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, concluded the presentation of the new Ripoll building by emphasizing that Parc Taulí does a very important job in many areas and it was key to make this commitment to a reference hospital in much of the Vallès Western and by an area of ​​influence of 400.000 people.
