Salvador Navarro, director of the Surgery Service and Digestive System of Parc Taulí and professor of the Department of Surgery at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), has been elected new dean in the extraordinary session of the Taulí of the Faculty of Medicine of the UAB which took place last July 12.
Dr. Navarro, with an extensive and recognized care career, researcher and teacher, has been vice dean of the UAB Faculty of Medicine and coordinator of the Teaching Unit of the Parc Taulí - UAB, president of the Catalan Society of Surgery and the scientific committee of the Associació Espanyola de Cirurgia, i ha rebut el Premi Pere Virgili de 2019 de la Societat Catalana de Cirurgia i el Premi a l'Excel·lència Professional del Col·legi Oficial de Metges de Barcelona, entre altres distincions.
Salvador Navarro has also been, since 2003, the director in Catalonia of the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) training course - for the training of medical experts in the evaluation and initial treatment of polytraumatic patients - and state director of the Definitive Surgery for Trauma Care (DSTC) - aimed at surgeons responsible for decision-making in trauma -, which each year attracts expert surgeons from around the world as teachers. Author of 140 indexed publications and 24 book chapters, he has participated in 59 subsidized research projects and has directed 19 doctoral theses.
