Parc Taulí has recently been designated as a clinical expertise unit (UEC) in minority respiratory diseases in Catalonia, both for adults and for the pediatric population. With this new designation, the Taulí is part of one of the five hospital centers that make up the Network of Clinical Expertise Units (XUEC) in this field. This resolution is part of the strategy to strengthen the Networks of Clinical Expertise Units (XUEC) in minority diseases of the 2021-2025 Health Plan.

Among the different categories included in the new XUEC, Parc Taulí has been accredited, specifically, for Cystic Fibrosis (CF), interstitial lung disease and bronchiectasis. For this reason, this unit is made up of a multidisciplinary team of professionals who cover the different pathologies, in adulthood and pediatrics.

With this designation, the Parc Taulí is now part of a total of four XUECs, after in previous years it also received accreditations in genetic-based cognitive-behavioral diseases, in adulthood and pediatrics; in neuromuscular minority diseases, in adults; and in minority immune diseases: area of systemic autoimmune diseases, both for adults and for the pediatric population.

The coordinator of the new UEC in minority respiratory diseases at Parc Taulí, Manel Luján, has assured that "with this designation, Taulí becomes the only hospital outside of Barcelona with this level of accreditation for expertise in minority diseases".

Also, Luján emphasized that "this accreditation implies the recognition of a care trajectory in the treatment and research of these diseases". In addition, "recognition of quality can attract resources, materials and people, to the institution to be able to continue working and improving in the field of care and research, for the benefit of patients".
