This morning, the new operating theater of the Ambulatory Surgical Center (CQA) of the Parc Taulí went into operation. With this new addition, the CQA goes from four to five operating theaters to be able to perform outpatient surgical procedures. In other words, those interventions that do not require the patient to be hospitalized.
The CQA performed more than 2022 surgical interventions in 7.900. Now, with the opening of the fifth operating theatre, it is estimated that activity will increase by 20%. In this way, the Taulí will be able to undertake all ambulatory surgical interventions, avoiding the referral of patients to other hospital centers.
This change in the procedure will be very beneficial, both for the patient, who will be intervened in his center of reference; as for the professional, who will be able to monitor his patient more closely.
Although the aim of the CQA is to respond to the patient with a surgical indication, but without the need for admission. This new infrastructure will also allow growth in other projects such as ambulatory care for highly complex interventions or the response to patients with trauma surgical emergencies, which do not require hospital admission. This means that it will also have a direct impact on ophthalmology, general surgery, pediatric surgery, urology or trauma services.
The expansion of operating theaters at the Ambulatory Surgical Center is part of the strategic plan to improve surgical care at Parc Taulí. with l'main objective of continuing to add value, increasing the care response of the healthcare professional towards the patient and guaranteeing a quick and beneficial recovery of people in their home environment.
