Nearly 150 professionals from Catalan hospitals are participating today in the day of updating and consensus in relation to the indication of the traveler's vaccines, with the aim of knowing the characteristics of the different units that offer this service and to share experiences between professionals . The day is aimed at doctors and nurses from the different Catalan centers for international vaccination.
During the meeting, the indications for the dengue vaccine will be analyzed as a new vaccine to be introduced this year. The Medicines Agency has authorized the dengue vaccine and international vaccination centers are working to agree on criteria and decide the profile of travelers to whom it will be administered. The day will also address new developments in resistant malaria, or recommendations for travelers on hygienic, dietary and personal care measures, among other aspects.
The coordinator of the International Health Unit and Parc Taulí Traveller's Advice, Maria Luisa Machado, highlights that during 2023 long-term travel has recovered, especially in Africa, but it is also starting to increase in the countries of Southeast Asia. Each year, an average of 2.000 users are served at Parc Taulí at the traveller's consultation.
