The Parc Taulí Auditorium recently hosted a nursing conference dedicated to interventional radiology, a constantly evolving medical discipline dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of different pathologies with image-guided procedures. Interventional vascular radiology focuses on minimally invasive surgical techniques using percutaneous, venous or arterial punctures.

During the day, in which 150 professionals from all over the State participated, the proposal to create theSpanish Nursing Association in Interventional Vascular Radiology (AEERVI), driven by four professionals from Parc Taulí: Ana Gutiérrez Siles (president of AEERVI), Eduard Pijuan (secretary), Alexandra Soley and Milagros Ruiz (vocals). The initiative was well received by the attendees who showed their willingness to support and get involved in the organization and deployment of the association. The board of directors is made up of the four professionals from Parc Taulí and three more professionals from different hospitals.

For its promoters, this project is born from the need for professionals to train, to make disclosure, communication and consensus among their members, as well as to achieve improvements regarding the operation of the nursing teams and give more visibility to the collective . For this reason, one of the main objectives is to give continuity to training and debate days such as the one held at Parc Taulí.

The new association will be officially presented as part of the medical congress of the Spanish Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (SERVICE) in the nursing section that will be held next May 19 in Murcia.

The interventional radiology nursing team at Parc Taulí is made up of twenty professionals. Interventional vascular radiology nurses, in order to offer quality care, carry out a wide range of functions in their daily activity. Some of the tasks they carry out are assistance in the procedure, handling the patient during it, and all the previous and immediate post-care, apart from the management of the intervention rooms and the continuity of visits and care in the patients who have a catheter implanted.

It should be noted that, although the nurses are part of the multidisciplinary team and have an important collaborative role, they also have an autonomous role where they have their own portfolio of services, of which hundreds of procedures are carried out a year .
