The girls and boys admitted to the pediatric unit at Parc Taulí enjoyed a magical journey to different fantastic worlds this Saturday morning by volunteer and storyteller Antinea Ravarotto.
On the first day of the activity, 3 boys and 1 girl between 2 and 9 years old participated. Lluc, Naia, Àlex and Yassir were the protagonists of the activity choosing the stories that were read: The Blue Whale; Peng's seed; Grandfather's Seed; A mole on the farm; The bone that hugged the trees.
Although they were a little shy at first, as Antinea continued to tell the stories, the shyness disappeared and young and old enjoyed a good time, forgetting that they were inside.
This activity will take place one Saturday morning a month and is aimed at the little ones, aged 2-9, so that the little ones can enjoy a fun and educational time. It will last between 40 minutes and 1 hour and a half, depending on the children's availability and how the activity is being developed.
From Monday to Saturday, children in the pediatric unit also have the toy library at their service, in the morning and afternoon, managed by the volunteer team.
Antinea Ravarotto is a philologist and professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She is the author of children's stories like The legend of Mulassa de Sabadell. He has a lot of experience in group facilitation, although it was his first time to meet such a demanding audience. The experience was very enriching and will be repeated next month.
The activity was organized thanks to the Parc Taulí Volunteer Program and the volunteers who are part of it and provide support services to make the hospital stay more pleasant for patients and families.
