El Parc Taulí continues to improve and expand its facilities to continue offering quality care and position itself as a center of reference.
Next Monday, June 3, the second and final phase of expansion and remodeling of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Parc Taulí will begin, the first phase was inaugurated in October of last year with the new space in the Gran Via frontal building. In this second phase, the old ICU has been remodeled and a Resuscitation Unit (REA) equipped with the latest technology has been built.
This unit has 9 individual boxes and will be managed by the Anesthesiology Service. The people who will be cared for in this space will be post-surgical patients who, after a complex intervention, will need life support of one or more organs, with mechanical ventilation. Also patients who have suffered polytrauma. In addition, this unit is equipped with the latest technology making it a SmartUCI. "Everything is computerized, the nursing team will be able to follow the progress of the patients from the computer screen and the electronic tablet, which allows them to follow up the patient more thoroughly”, explains the Director of Economy and Services, Francesc Luque.
The Director of Assistance and Transversal Services, Dra. Rocío Cebrián, assures that "it was possible to create this specific resuscitation unit due to the increase in patients, because we increased surgical activity after the construction and entry into operation of the 8 new operating theaters in the central surgery block".
Having a differentiated and specific resuscitation unit will allow the healthcare professionals at Parc Taulí to specialize in the treatment and care of these pathologies.
"This new unit will allow Parc Taulí to increase its complexity in order to attend to complex patients in our reference area and in other areas, of which we are references in terms of complexity”, highlights Dra. Cebrián
The new ICU, of which the Reanimation Unit is part, will have a total of 48 cubicles. "One of the most important works of the Parc Taulí is completed, which together with the remodeling of the operating theaters totals 7.000 m2”, explains Francesc Luque.
The joint work of the operating theaters and the ICU has had a cost of €15 million and has been financed with REACT funds.
These works are part of an ambitious project to transform the hospital by the Consortium and Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí and the Department of Health. The project started with the Ripoll Building (196 beds). The latest actions have been the new endoscopy room; the new pediatric outpatient clinics in the Santa Fe building; the new surgical block (8 highly complex operating theatres); the Ambulatory Major Surgery operating room, the first phase of expansion of the Emergency Department, with the new Short Stay Unit and, now, the renovation and expansion of the Intensive Care Unit (48 beds), with the new Reanimation Unit.
