The director of Mental Health at Parc Taulí and full professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), el Dr. Diego Palao, has been chosen by unanimity as the new director of the Department of Psychiatry and Legal Medicine of the UAB.
Dr. Palao replaces the professor of Psychiatry, Dr. Antoni Bulbena Vilarrasa, who will retire next September. The Department integrates the teaching units of the UAB university hospitals (Parc Taulí, Vall d'Hebron, Sant Pau and Can Ruti), as well as the Psychology Teaching Unit in Bellaterra. It also manages the recognized Doctorate in Psychiatry program.
Dr. Palao has been director of Mental Health at Parc Taulí since 2006 and a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Legal Medicine at the UAB since 2010. He has expressed pride and gratitude for having the opportunity to contribute to the governance of the responsible department that the new doctors and female doctors can acquire the essential skills in psychiatry and mental health to contribute to quality integrated assistance.
