Parc Taulí is part of the Network of Advanced Therapies of Catalonia created by Biocat.
This initiative, with 45 affiliated companies and entities, will promote the research and development of these medicines to generate an economic and social impact in Catalonia. All the institutions involved have coordinated to accelerate the arrival of these therapies to patients and to project the BioRegion of Catalonia as a hub of reference in advanced therapies in the international arena.
"Being part of the Network of Advanced Therapies of Catalonia gives us strength to continue working in coordination with the referents of both common and minority diseases, experts in genomics and molecular pathology, together with training and teaching to offer better health care and open new avenues of research within the Research and Innovation Institute of Taulí, the I3PT", assures Dr. Víctor Martínez, director of the Center for Genomic Medicine.
Parc Taulí is committed to the Center for Genomic Medicine and advanced therapies
One of the bets of the management of Parc Taulí is to promote Genomic Medicine to consolidate itself as a reference center for healthcare based on personalized medicine. As part of this strategy, the hospital has an Advanced Medical Therapy Platform.
Advanced therapies are highly innovative medical treatments based on the use of genes (gene therapy), cells (cell therapy) or tissues (tissue engineering) to prevent or treat various diseases. Their relevance lies in their potential to personalize treatments and in their revolutionary role in medicine, presenting themselves as new therapeutic strategies for diseases that still lack effective treatments.
"The Advanced Therapies Platform of Taulí, added to the synergies that enhance the Network of Advanced Therapies of Catalonia created by Biocat, offer new hope in the treatment of complex, chronic and potentially lethal diseases, and allow to improve the quality of life of patients . We still have a long way to go, but advanced therapies are already starting to become a reality", says Dr. Eugenio Zapata, Clinical Geneticist at the Center for Genomic Medicine and referent of the Platform for Advanced Medical Therapies of the Taulí.
"The Taulí Advanced Therapies Platform must have a high-level technological environment to develop, produce and apply Advanced Medical Therapies, and this is what the Network of Advanced Therapies of Catalonia provides us", concludes Dr. Victor Martinez
