The Bariatric Surgery Unit at Parc Taulí has been accredited as a center of excellence by the Spanish Society of Obesity Surgery (SECO) in recognition of the work carried out by this unit.
With this distinction, Parc Taulí becomes the second center in Catalonia recognized by SECO, as it records a volume of surgical activity well above the 75 annual cases of bariatric surgery that establishes this level of accreditation. Specifically, more than 100 interventions are carried out a year, with a minimally invasive approach -70% robotic and 30% laparoscopic-.
The Bariatric Surgery Unit at Parc Taulí was created in 2007 with a multidisciplinary team made up of endocrinologists, surgeons, nutritionists, psychologists, psychiatrists, pulmonologists, anesthetists, endoscopists and physiotherapists, where the quality of care has always been prioritized.
The head of section, Dr. Alexis Luna, assures that "the progressive increase in activity has allowed us to achieve excellent results, always preserving patient safety".
The distinction by the Spanish Society of Obesity Surgery (SECO) as Center of Excellence-Unit of Advanced Bariatric Surgery "accredits our track record and the work done. We are very proud because only five state centers have obtained this category. It demonstrates the high level of organization of the Unit and of the hospital's technology to be able to perform highly complex surgery", points out Dr. moon
The aim of the Unit is to continue working in this line to maintain excellence, in the healthcare field, and to continue to contribute innovation and research.
