VIII Conference 'Mental Health Let's Do it Together' on depression and suicide prevention: #TrioLaVida

Parc Taulí celebrated today the VIII "Mental Health Let's Do It Together" Conference on depression and suicide prevention, where Major Depression (MD) was addressed from different areas and ages (adolescents and adults).
The Day was inaugurated by the health councilor of Sabadell City Council, Sílvia Garcia; the director of the Primary Care service of Vallès Occidental, Josep M. Bonet; and the director of Mental Health of Parc Taulí, Dr. Diego Palao.
During the welcome, all three emphasized the importance of working together and addressing the problems arising from mental health, making a more comprehensive action. Dr. Palao has insisted on the importance of having "plans and strategies to work in a more aligned way". He also stressed the importance of working together with Primary Care to introduce new projects and initiatives that help make early detection.
In this sense, the director of Mental Health has explained that from Parc Taulí work is being done on the E-Health project to make available digital applications that complement the care that mental health patients receive and guarantee a better entry of the population into the health system.
Then, the first panel moderated by the head of the Child and Youth Mental Health area, Dra. Montse Pàmias, who has focused on assessing the situation of adolescents, in the field of mental health, guaranteeing prevention. Dr. Pàmias assured that "it is very important to work with them to empower them and make them stronger. This way we can have a stronger society in the future".
The second panel, moderated by the Director of Adult Mental Health at Parc Tauli, Virgínia Soria, focused on the comprehensive care of depression and the therapies that can be developed, where Parc Taulí is a benchmark in terms of opportunities therapeutic
The third panel was on the prevention of suicide from Medical Emergencies, which was moderated by the psychologist of 061-SEM, Andrés Cuartero.
The VIII Conference on depression and suicide prevention has ended with the conference on 'Postvention with suicide survivors: an imperative need', given by the president of the association of survivors After suicide, Cecília Borràs, who explained the importance to focus efforts to help survivors (people who have lost a family member or friend to suicide). Borràs explained that during these 12 years, his association has served 5.200 people, around 300-400 people annually.
The closing was carried out by the director general of Parc Taulí, Anna Aran, and the president of the Sabadell Mental Health Association, Ricard Tolosa. Dr. Aran has claimed the importance of comprehensive care for people with major depression, aimed at functional recovery and counting on the involvement and complicity of family members and the community network.
