The Parc Taulí Auditorium has hosted the Conference on Sexual and Reproductive Rights for people with mental health problems and addictions and other situations of vulnerability. The president of Parc Taulí, Dolors Costa, together with the director of the Affective, Sexual and Reproductive Health Plan of the Department of Health, Ramon Escuriet; the president of the Association of Sexual and Reproductive Rights, Imma Clarà; and the president of the Mental Health Federation of Catalonia, Mercè Torrentallé, kicked off the Conference.
Dolors Costa recalled that the sexual and reproductive rights of people are fundamental human rights collected by the United Nations in its Sustainable Development Goals approved in 2015. "Sexual and reproductive rights give us individual and collective power, to live our sexuality and our lives as we want. This is why, from Parc Taulí, we work to ensure and defend all rights", insisted the president.
For his part, Ramon Escuriet has highlighted the work done during these years in the Department of Health regarding the sexual rights of people with mental health problems. In the same way, Imma Clarà and Mercè Torrentallé have appreciated the opportunity to speak on this day about how these rights have been violated.
The Day has been divided into five different groups where an attempt has been made to raise awareness about the sexual and reproductive rights of people with mental health problems and addictions, from a more institutional point of view, presenting the results of surveys; such as the actions developed by different agents of society who work in associations and federations helping people who find themselves in this situation.
Today's session also served to share and create new spaces of empowerment, support and recovery for all people who have had their sexual and reproductive rights violated.
