THESpanish Association of Surgeons (AEC) has appointed the head of the Department of Surgery at Parc Taulí, Dr. Salvador Navarro, as president for the period between 2024 and 2026.
It is a professional stage that Dr. Navarro assumes with "enthusiasm to enhance training, innovation and research in the field of surgery".
Dr. Navarro, recognized for his healthcare, research and teaching career, has been the director of the General and Digestive Surgery Service for 19 years until July 2022, when he was elected dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). In addition, he was coordinator of the Taulí-UAB Teaching Unit from its creation and during its first 9 years of operation.
In April 2023, he was appointed professor of the Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona with the highest qualification and, at present, he maintains his link with Parc Taulí with functions of head of the Department of Surgery and advisor.
Likewise, Dr. Navarro has been president of the Catalan Society of Surgery, director of the Department of Surgery at the UAB and vice-dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the UAB. He has also received the 2019 Pere Virgili Award from the Catalan Society of Surgery and the Professional Excellence Award from the Official College of Doctors of Barcelona, among other positions and recognitions.
