Professionals from the health promotion group "Parc Taulí Saludable" have installed an information stand at the entrance to the hospital this morning in which they have disseminated information about the impact that the smoking habit has on health.
This is an initiative within the framework of Smoke-Free Week - celebrated between 25 and 31 May - which aims to raise awareness among citizens about the benefits of smoke-free environments, prevent tobacco consumption and encourage smokers to quit this habit. This year, the campaign's slogan is "Let health be the prize".
Likewise, the “Parc Taulí Saludable” group has set up a smoke-free path for all those who want to access the hospital. According to Dr. Rosa Serrano, a doctor from the Prevention and Occupational Health Service and member of the Catalan Network of Smoke-Free Hospitals, this is an initiative “which expresses the desire of Parc Taulí to generate smoke-free environments to promote the health of the users and professionals of the institution”.
World No Tobacco Day
World No Tobacco Day is celebrated every May 31. It is a day within No Tobacco Week that encourages awareness of the importance of quitting smoking.
Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of health loss and premature mortality in the world. In fact, it represents one of the main risk factors for chronic cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and other pathologies, including cancer.
This year, the slogan for the World Day campaign is “Let's unmask them. The industry's tactics with tobacco products and nicotine exposed".
