The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit at Parc Taulí has reaccredited the quality certification of the Ad Qualitatem Foundation obtained in 2017.
This is a recognition promoted by the Spanish Working Group on Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis (GETECCU), the Ad Qualitatem Foundation and the biopharmaceutical company AbbVie that certifies the highest quality standards in the Unit's healthcare activity, placing it as a benchmark on a national and international scale.
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit at Parc Taulí treats around 2000 patients and diagnoses more than 100 new cases per year. In addition, there is a telephone and ongoing medical care service to improve outpatient control and reduce complications experienced by patients.
“The reaccreditation demonstrates the healthcare excellence of Parc Taulí and we are proud of the multidisciplinary work we carry out to guarantee better quality and safety for patients”, explains Dr. Albert Villoria, coordinator of the Unit.
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit is made up of specialists from the Digestive System Service, surgeons, radiologists, pediatric specialists and the nursing team who, with the support of the rheumatology team, work to guarantee personalized care.
May 19, World Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) – Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis – are chronic inflammatory diseases that cause inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. They tend to affect young patients, between 20 and 30 years old, or adults over 50 years old without adequate treatment and can lead to a deterioration in quality of life.
Every May 19th, World Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day is celebrated to raise awareness of its consequences on a health and social scale.
