The public system of Catalonia has the duty to guarantee the linguistic rights of users and patients, ensuring that they can express themselves and be treated in their own language. In this sense, and following the indications of the Department of Health (within the framework of instruction 02/2024), the People Area of Parc Taulí has prepared the new Language Management Plan, to guarantee the promotion and use of Catalan in the public health system of Catalonia and establish measures to guarantee compliance with the linguistic rights of citizens and patients.
The Plan includes 13 actions framed within the different areas of intervention: training and awareness-raising for professionals, documentation and internal and external communication, image and signage, among others. The objective is to guarantee quality care, respectful of linguistic rights and in line with current regulations. It also aims to contribute to strengthening cultural identity and social cohesion through the promotion of Catalan, while respecting and responding to the linguistic diversity of the citizens we serve.
One of these actions is the creation of the Language Policy of the Parc Taulí Healthcare Corporation Consortium which will guarantee the use and respect of the official languages in providing attention to citizens, in internal and external communication, with Catalan being the language of normal use, while respecting the right of people to choose the language of use without any kind of discrimination; informative, graphic and audiovisual materials must be in Catalan or subtitled in Catalan and the use of inclusive and non-sexist language will be ensured.
