Parc Taulí continues to consolidate itself as a training center for different specialties in the Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology service. In this case, the Knee Unit and the Hip Unit have been accredited as a training center by the Spanish Association of Arthroscopy (AEA).
Dr. Sergi Gil, head of the Knee Unit and member of Teaching and Training at the AEA, explained that taking this step “the fact that different service professionals are individually accredited teachers has made it easier to take the next step, accrediting ourselves, to position ourselves as a reference center in this field".
For Dr. Marc Tey, head of section of the Hip Unit and first vice president of the AEA, the training center certificate is “the endorsement recognized by a scientific society for the work done by the Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology service at Parc Taulí and gives visibility to our Units".
For both Dr. Gil and Dr. Tey, this accreditation generates a self-demand on the professionals to continue with ongoing training to maintain the standards of excellence established by the Spanish Association of Arthroscopy. As well as “the desire to respond to the DNA of the service professionals which is healthcare, research and teaching”, emphasizes Dr. Tey.
It is expected that next spring Dr. Marc Tey will take over at the AEA and become its new president.
