The Mediterranean diet is a dietary model recognized by the international scientific community for its nutritional balance.
It is characterized by its majority consumption of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables. As well as the combination of legumes, nuts, whole grains (bread, pasta, rice, etc.) and tubers such as potatoes, virgin oil and, in lesser quantities and frequency, dairy products, fish and eggs, followed by meats (preferably white and lean). Avoiding the consumption of ultra-processed products. In addition to doing moderate physical activity. This combination turns the Mediterranean diet into a dietary pattern and a lifestyle of the healthiest, most balanced and sustainable in the world. Even, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) declared it Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010.
Taking advantage of World Mediterranean Diet Day, a team of nutritionists from Parc Taulí carried out some activities during the morning to raise awareness of the richness of this diet. People were encouraged to combine different (plastic) foods to make a healthy meal. There was also the possibility of measuring muscle strength with a dynamometer, to find out what their muscle health was.
All the people who approached the stand were given information and a piece of fruit.
