Mental health is one of the main public health challenges. It is estimated that 1 in 4 people will suffer from a mental disorder throughout their lifetime, and a significant portion of the population lives with emotional distress without knowing exactly what is happening to them or when or how to seek help. Fear of stigma, lack of information, and difficulty identifying the early signs mean that many people delay your first visit with your doctor.
With the aim of offering a accessible, safe and non-judgmental first step, the Parc Taulí launches “My Mental Health”, a new digital space to empower patients and improve their emotional well-being.
This is a digital space which allows adults and adolescents from 16 years of age to make a quick, anonymous and confidential self-assessment of their state of emotional well-being. The tool has been designed by healthcare professionals from the Parc Taulí Mental Health Service, based on clinical knowledge and scientific evidence.
"My Mental Health is a tool that places the person at the center, empowers them and allows them to obtain objective, rigorous information based on scientific evidence, facilitating decision-making about their mental health.", explains Dr.Diego Palao, Director of Mental Health at Parc Taulí.
People who access this digital tool must answer a brief questionnaire, after which the user receives some results. directional and understandable information about what may be happening to you; personalized recommendations, endorsed by clinical professionals and the possibility of download a report to facilitate consultation with your primary care provider.
Depending on the results, the tool also guides people who have completed the questionnaire about available resources, including access to immediate psychological support in risky situations through 061-SEM.
But beyond self-assessment, this new platform offers different audiovisual supports such as: informative videos from the clinical references of Parc Taulí explaining the different mental disorders; testimonies from real patients; videos and practical resources to work on areas of daily life and theaccess to a map of community resources.
Despite this support, the professionals at Parc Taulí who have developed this tool remember that “theapplication does not replace professional care, but it can be key to helping people to name what happens to them, become aware of their emotional state and facilitate access to the healthcare resources of the Catalan Health System, says Dr. Palao.
"My Mental Health is the first digital solution that emerges from the transformative e-Mental Health Catalonia project, a clear commitment from CatSalut to promote the digital transformation of the mental health care process.”, assures the operational director of the e-Mental Health Catalonia project, Enrique Arroyo.
Although the tool is already available for consultation -https://lamevasalutmental.tauli.cat-, it is still in the pilot phase with patients on their first visits to primary care to validate its clinical concordance, use and experience.
This project is promoted and funded by Catalan Health Service (CatSalut) and is part of the SISCAT Transformative Projects, aimed at promoting innovation and digital transformation of the Catalan health system.
Stop, listen to yourself and do a first self-assessment in mental health. A small gesture that can make a difference: https://lamevasalutmental.tauli.cat.
