The continuous training of healthcare professionals is a key element in providing quality, person-centered care. However, medical and nursing teams not only spend time abroad to expand their knowledge, but also present the way they work at the Parc Taulí Healthcare Corporation Consortium (CCSPT).
Following this line, Parc Taulí has welcomed a dozen recently graduated doctors from Jönköping, Sweden, with the aim of introducing them to the different areas of care, research and innovation of the CCSPT. “This is an optimal opportunity for them to get to know a center in the Catalan healthcare system firsthand. In this way, they learn other ways of working that they could apply in the future”, explains Dr. Ricard Comet, director of the Internal Medicine Service and coordinator of the reception program. In fact, it is the second edition of the pilot program between Parc Taulí and Höglandssjukhuset Eksjö hospital, a training center for Swedish doctors.
Over the course of two weeks, the doctors have been able to accompany professionals from the different areas of the Corporation in their healthcare tasks. First, they were given an introductory session in which the CCSPT was presented and, then, they were able to deal with the Primary Care healthcare team, as well as those from Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Geriatrics, Home Hospitalization and the Emergency Department.
In addition, the doctors had the opportunity to visit the facilities of the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT), where they were able to learn first-hand about the Institution's research lines, as well as the postgraduate training offered. At the end of their stay, the Swedish doctors presented the Corporation's professionals with a comparative analysis of the Catalan and Swedish healthcare systems.
“It is a very enriching experience that allows us to learn from each other”, says Dr. Comet, who appreciates the commitment of all CCSPT professionals to guarantee the quality of the program. However, it is hoped that in the future the Parc Taulí will continue to promote training programs like this.
