The city of Sabadell is preparing to experience one of its most supportive days of the year. This afternoon, WeRun, the organizing entity, officially presented the 14th edition of the Corro Contra el Càncer race at the Taulí Auditorium, which this year comes with significant changes that reinforce its roots in the city and its vocation of supporting the leading hospital in the region. The event was attended by the Secretary General of Sport of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Abel Garcia, and Montse González, deputy mayor and councilor for Sports of the Sabadell City Council, and the president of the Parc Taulí Healthcare Corporation Consortium (CCSPT), Dolors Costa.
Under the slogan #CorremPelTaulí, the race on May 31st presents two important new features. Firstly, the alliance with the Parc Taulí Hospital, which becomes the sole beneficiary of the proceeds. Secondly, the change of circuit: for the first time, it will have its epicenter in the Parc Catalunya amphitheater, within the framework of the Observa Festival, thus uniting health, sport and culture in a single morning.
The race, which will start at 10:30 a.m., maintains its 5-kilometer format from Catalunya Park to the city center for running or walking. Registration is now open at www.corrocontraelcancer.cat, with options such as the Family Pack (2 adults and 2 children) and Row 0 for those who want to collaborate remotely. At the time of the presentation, more than a thousand people had already registered.
Km0 Solidarity: Research against uterine cancer
President Dolors Costa and Dr. Miquel Àngel Seguí, Head of Oncology at Parc Taulí, accompanied by Laura Pérez, a patient undergoing treatment, were responsible for explaining the project to which the money raised will be allocated.
This is a research project focused on endometrial (uterine) cancer, based on the genetic study of the tumor with the aim of improving early diagnosis and personalizing treatments, a local project that is carried out in Taulí, with a direct impact on the health of patients in the Sabadell area.
An experience beyond the race
This year's edition is not limited to just the 5 kilometers of the route, but proposes a complete morning plan. The Observa Festival venue, in the amphitheater of the Parc Catalunya, will open its doors at 9:00 a.m. to welcome participants, and from 9:30 a.m., the engines will be warmed up with a Coffee & Yoga session, ideal for preparing the body and mind before the start. The race will start at 10:30 a.m. and, from 11:00 a.m., the energy will multiply with a Zumba Masterclass and the option of making vermouth at the Observa Village. This combination of health, sport and culture seeks to offer a well-rounded morning experience, where solidarity is experienced from before the starting gun until the last toast.
Strategic alliance with El Corte Inglés
Another of the great novelties of this edition is the incorporation of El Corte Inglés as an official sponsor of the race and partner of WeRun. As part of this collaboration, the official delivery of bibs and t-shirts will take place on Saturday, May 30th at the El Corte Inglés facilities in Sabadell, thus providing a central and accessible collection point for all registered people.
On Saturday, the collection hours will be from 10 am to 20 pm. People not registered in Sabadell will be able to collect their race number before the race, from 9 am to 10 am, at the Observa venue.
TUS (Transports Urbans de Sabadell) has also been added as an official sponsor of the sports entity.
A city turned upside down: the energy of volunteers and the animation on the circuit
The success of the Run Against Cancer is, above all, a success of citizen participation that goes far beyond the runners. This year, more than a hundred people will form the logistical machinery of the race, with around seventy volunteers and thirty staff members who will ensure that everything runs smoothly.
In addition, the new route will be a real party from start to finish: the organization has prepared an unprecedented entertainment program with the collaboration of DJs, batucadas and the theater company Estrellats, who will fill various strategic points of the circuit with rhythm and energy.
This collective involvement demonstrates how Sabadell has made the race its own, turning it into an event where everyone —from organizations to individuals— wants to do their bit for Taulí.
