Venous thromboembolic disease, which includes pulmonary thromboembolism and deep vein thrombosis, is one of the main causes of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, with a significant healthcare impact in both the hospital and outpatient settings.
The Parc Taulí multidisciplinary thrombosis committee guarantees comprehensive, coordinated and evidence-based care for patients with venous thromboembolic disease. The committee has worked to obtain accreditation as a Specialized Unit in Venous Thromboembolic Disease.
This accreditation is part of the initiative promoted by the Association for the Study of Vascular Medicine in Spain (ASEMEVE), which aims to improve the procedures for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of venous thrombosis in all medical specialties.
In ASEMEVE's decision to accredit the Parc Taulí unit, different scientific societies have also participated, among which the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine, the Spanish Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis, the Spanish Society of Hematology and Hematology, the Spanish Chapter of Phlebology and Lymphology of the SEACV, the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery, the Spanish Society of Emergency and Emergency Medicine, and the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology.
Accreditation as a specialized unit positions Parc Taulí as a center with advanced resources and consolidated protocols for the comprehensive approach to venous thromboembolic disease.
