The Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service (COT) at Parc Taulí has had a prominent participation in the 13th Joint Congress of the Spanish Association of Arthroscopy (AEA) and the Spanish Knee Society (SEROD), recently held in Marbella and which brought together more than 1.800 specialists from all over Spain, as well as numerous international speakers and delegates.
During the congress, Dr. Marc Tey assumed the presidency of the AEA for the next two years, becoming the first hip surgeon to hold this position. This appointment represents a significant milestone for the specialty and highlights the AEA's commitment to a transversal vision of arthroscopy, as well as the growth and consolidation of hip arthroscopy within the state. In addition, Dr. Xavier Pelfort is currently vice-president of SEROD, a fact that further strengthens the presence and leadership of Parc Taulí in the main state scientific societies in the field of orthopedic surgery and traumatology.
During the same congress, Dr. Sergi Gil ended his period as a teaching member of the AEA. Throughout his term, the teaching area of the society has experienced a significant boost with initiatives such as the “AEA Cerca de Ti” program, initiated precisely at Parc Taulí, with the aim of bringing training closer to the hospitals of the territory. Also noteworthy is the consolidation of the Master in Arthroscopy promoted jointly by the AEA and the University of Barcelona, the result of the work carried out by different boards of directors and which has taken shape during the period of teaching responsibility of Dr. Gil.
In addition to the institutional role, the Parc Taulí team had an intense scientific activity during the congress. The service professionals presented five oral communications in the field of knee surgery, gave four presentations on hip pathology, patellofemoral pathology and septic knee infection, and participated in the moderation of three oral communications panels. In addition, representatives of the surgical nursing team also presented the works related to their area of expertise.
The great participation in the congress was demonstrated by the award received by Dr. Guillermo Pereto for the best communication of the congress, awarded to the study “Is MRI superior to CT in the evaluation of lateralization of the tibial tuberosity? Reliability of TAGT and TT-PCL in patellofemoral instability”.
This recognition consolidates Parc Taulí as a reference center in research, innovation and teaching in orthopedic surgery and traumatology, especially in the areas of hip and knee surgery.
