From now on, each patient at Parc Taulí will be assigned a unique alphanumeric code, made up of three capital letters and three numbers, which will be maintained during each visit, examination or intervention at the hospital. Even in the event that they have several appointments or examinations on the same day.
This new system, implemented by the Patient Management Department and the Information Systems Department, aims to improve the privacy of users and maintain their confidentiality. It will also avoid confusion and panic if the person loses their number.
The new identifier will appear on the ticket that users print at the appointment validation machine when they swipe their health card. This code will be the same one that the patient and their companions will be able to see on the information screens in the waiting room.
"Privacy is very important to us. That's why we are working to implement this change in certain tests, such as endoscopy. Currently, once the test is complete, relatives are notified by calling out the patient's name. Now, with the unique identifier, the relative will be able to know the patient in advance and identify them on the screen when it is time to access it, without the need for staff to call out the name out loud. In this way, the patient's privacy is reinforced and care is guaranteed that is more respectful of their confidentiality.”, assures the director of Patient Management, Marta Hurtado.
Despite this modification, users will still need to swipe their health card when entering the hospital, as well as during outpatient consultations, to notify their arrival. Once in the waiting room, the code will appear on the information screens and inform when it is the patient's turn.
