The Parc Taulí Healthcare Corporation Consortium (CCSPT) hosted the 15th La Unió Association Conference. Association of Health and Social Entities, which has gathered at the 1859 Caixa Sabadell Foundation, consolidating this meeting as a reference space for the health and social sector. Under the motto “Transforming the Present to Lead the Future”, the day served to advance the definition of the Strategic Framework 2026-2030.
The event brought together more than a hundred representatives of associated entities and professionals in the system with the aim of sharing knowledge, strengthening ties and jointly building future strategic lines.
Environments of uncertainty that require collective commitment
During the day, the need to jointly face a context marked by permanent economic and political uncertainty was shared, which makes it difficult to be solid in promoting medium-term transformation strategies. The focus was also on the need to move towards a broad concept of Health, which goes beyond healthcare and incorporates preventive action and social determinants at all stages of life.
Among the main elements of the shared environment are the need to respond to emerging needs related to the aging population, mental health and social vulnerability, as well as the pressure derived from a context of scarce economic, professional and environmental resources and the new values of professionalism, among others.
In this context, there has been agreement on the need to promote profound transformations in an increasingly interconnected environment, essential in incorporating the citizen perspective and reinforcing the collective commitment to a universal, sustainable and people-centered system. This shared reflection points towards the evolution of a model based on the Welfare State towards a Welfare Society, in which institutions, professionals and citizens share co-responsibility for the good use of public resources.
Debate on the major challenges and collective lines of action
As major lines of associative action to focus together on the future, the need to highlight and defend, with arguments and data, the uniqueness of the Catalan health and social model, based on a plural provision network formed by entities that add excellence and proximity to the public service, what we call concertation, has been ratified.
The importance of ensuring the sustainability and solvency of organizations to guarantee the best possible response to citizens, as well as leading key transformations such as social and health integration and digital transformation with a humanistic perspective, was also highlighted. At the same time, the need to promote new organizational models, skills, competencies and leadership capable of accompanying these changes was highlighted.
Among the main levers to make these changes effective, the need for sufficient and fair funding, with resource allocation, contracting and payment systems that incentivize changes has been highlighted. There has also been a focus on governance, data, value-based care (VBHC) and active listening to people.
Institutional participation and collective reflection
The event was attended by Marta Farrés, Mayor of Sabadell, Ricard Armengol, director of the Vallès Occidental Est health sector, and Dolors Costa, president of the Consorci Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí of Sabadell.
For Joan Ma Adserà, president of La Unió, "Transforming the Present to lead the Future is only possible from the citizen's perspective, from territorial proximity, from good governance and management of organizations, and from commitment and collective learning."
Among the outstanding interventions, the philosopher Jordi Grané shared the conference "Live life. Words and ideas that can improve our world", a reflection on leadership, hope and the capacity of organizations and people to face new contexts of uncertainty and social change.
A step forward towards the 2026-2030 Strategic Framework
In addition, the Passem Comptes of the Strategic Plan of La Unió 2022-2025 was presented, which includes the main advances achieved in recent years, and the participatory process promoted to develop the new Strategic Framework 2026-2030 was shared.
The collective, plural and intergenerational debate space has allowed to contrast priorities and collect contributions from associated entities, reinforcing La Unió's commitment to a health and social system of all and for all, sustainable and of quality, and prepared to anticipate people's needs. The debate has included the participation of Antoni Abad, president of MútuaTerrassa, Gemma Craywinckel, general director of the Consorci Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí de Sabadell, Marco Inzitari, manager of the Parc Sanitari Pere Virgili, and Jana Fàbregas, deputy manager of CPB Salut Mental.
The conclusions of the conference will contribute to defining the lines of action that will guide the organization and the sector in the coming years.
