José Ibeas, appointed director of the Advisory Committee of the Health/AI Program of Catalonia

The nephrologist at Parc Taulí and researcher at the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT), Jose Ibeas, has been appointed director of the Advisory Committee of the Program for the promotion and development of artificial intelligence in the Catalan health system (Health/AI Program) for the period 2026-2028.
El Health/AI program is an initiative promoted by the Department of Health to promote the development and implementation of solutions based on artificial intelligence (AI) in the Catalan healthcare systemIts objective is to promote a coordinated, safe and ethical adoption of these technologies, taking advantage of the potential of the Comprehensive Public Health System of Catalonia (SISCAT) to improve the quality of care, the efficiency of the system and the health outcomes of citizens.
Since its launch, the Program has worked to establish a governance framework that facilitates the deployment of AI in the healthcare field, guaranteeing privacy, security and protection of personal data.
A key body to guide the deployment of AI in health
As director of the Advisory Committee, José Ibeas will coordinate a multidisciplinary body made up of expert professionals from the clinical, technical, ethical, legal, research, healthcare management, gender policies, citizen care and patient participation, among others.
The Advisory Committee's mission is to support the governing bodies of the Health/AI Program by providing advice on clinical, technical, methodological, ethical and legal aspects related to artificial intelligence. It also participates in the assessment of AI solutions, guides the projects promoted by the Program and contributes to identifying the main strategic challenges of the health system that can be addressed through these technologies.
This appointment reinforces José Ibeas' role as a benchmark in innovation and digital transformation in health, as well as the contribution of Parc Taulí and I3PT to the development of a responsible, safe AI i aimed at generating a positive impact in healthcare and research.
