The clinical trial that began in 2012 was conducted with 20 patients and the results were excellent, demonstrating in most cases, a great effectiveness and viability of the technique. This trial ended in 2015 and given the success, Taulinoplasty (or Pectus Up) is already performed in other centers to treat patients with Pectus Excavatum. Even so, the Pediatric Surgery Service of the Corporació Sanitaria Parc Taulí has already reached the thirty patients operated on using this innovative technique. That is why the Taulí Hospital is a world pioneer in this technique, compared to other national and foreign centers where it is currently beginning to establish itself.
In the following link, scientifically describes the surgical experience in patients aged between 4 and 19 years of age, operated on surgically using the Taulinoplasty technique. In this publication, it is noted that in all cases the reduction and stabilization of the defect was obtained, without significant complications.
New scientific publications with more results and comparisons with other Pectus Excavatum surgical techniques, such as the Nuss technique, are currently underway.
