Pediatric Cardiology is the specialty that deals with the comprehensive care of children (from the fetal stage) and adolescents with congenital or acquired diseases of the cardiovascular system. Congenital heart diseases are the most common major abnormalities at birth, with an incidence of approximately 8 per 1.000 births. About 85% of children with heart disease reach adulthood.
Pediatric Cardiology and congenital heart diseases are a real diagnostic and therapeutic challenge due to the many variants and combinations between them, which makes them pathologies of great singularity.
The aim of the Pediatric Cardiology Unit at Parc Taulí is to provide a timely, efficient, proactive response with the respective sensitivity for each of the patients and families affected.
The activity is carried out mainly in External Consultation and in the field of Obstetrics and Neonatology (Prenatal Committee) and works in collaboration with the hospitals Clínic de Barcelona, Sant Joan de Déu and Vall d'Hebron where they refer patients who require surgical or highly specialized treatment.
Since 2016, he has been collaborating in healthcare activity (in 2018, 1 day a week) and the development of a territorial project with the Hospital de Terrassa.
This Unit is integrated into the Pediatric Medicine Service
