Pediatric Thoracic Surgery Unit

The Pediatric Thoracic Surgery Unit, belonging to the Pediatric Surgery Service, treats pediatric thoracic pathology using minimally invasive surgery (thoracoscopy). The unit is made up of Dr. Bernardo Núñez, current referent, and Dra. Natalia Alvarez.

The Unit is, among others, an expert in the surgical correction of the malformative pathology of the chest wall, in particular of the pectus excavatum, both by Nuss technique and Taulinoplasty (Pectus Up), being the Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí a national and international reference center for this technique.

Pediatric thoracic pathology:

  • Chest wall deformities: pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum.
  • Palmar hyperhidrosis
  • Infectious diseases of the pleural cavity: effusion, pneumonia, empyema. Primary and / or secondary pneumothorax.
  • Congenital lung malformations: pulmonary sequestration, Cystic Adenomatoid Malformation (MAQ), lobal emphysema.
