Research
The members of the Infectious Diseases Service are part of the Research group on community and health care-associated infections of the I3PT, accredited by the Agency for the Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR) of Catalonia as a consolidated group (SGR-677) and integrated into the Spanish Infectious Pathology Research Network (REIP) (RD16/0016/0014) and the AIDS Research Network (RIS) ((RD16/0025/0033).
The group has two main lines of research focused on the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of (1) HIV infection and (2) healthcare-associated infections.
Teaching
It is encouraged continuing education of our professionals by attending specialist courses and congresses, as well as through regular clinical sessions within the Service.

Undergraduate teaching
The Infectious Diseases Service participates in the undergraduate teaching of Medicine (third and fifth year students)
Postgraduate teaching
Despite not being a recognized specialty, internal medicine residents perform a rotation of between 6 and 9 months (depending on preferences) through the Infectious Diseases Service, in which an attempt is made to provide extensive training, establishing rotations for each of the units, while being fully integrated into the activities of the Service.
Residents from other medical specialties perform rotations of between 1 and 2 months in our Service.
Also, courses are organized and coordinated for family doctors, other doctors or hospital residents on the care of patients with infectious diseases. He also collaborates in the Master's degree 'Clostridium difficile infection' of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
