Presentation

The Rare Diseases Unit of Parc Taulí was created with the aim of restructuring, organizing and coordinating each and every one of the functional units created specifically to address these diseases of low or very low prevalence, concentrating resources and knowledge so that facilitate compliance with the criteria for improving quality, obtaining optimal results, promoting systematic evaluation, training professionals, improving efficiency and opening more powerful lines of research and innovation. a broad vision of leadership in services, innovation and value creation.

We believe that the model of care for minority diseases in Parc Taulí must give priority to a multidisciplinary care system that facilitates the enhancement and improvement of knowledge and expertise, the quality and results of care, in an integrated care network presided over by the principles of equity in access and equity in outcomes and with the patient’s voice as the main and participatory axis in the organization.

Excellence in the care of minority diseases requires the efficient coordination of a good multidisciplinary team, and in this sense Parc Taulí has a unique and advantageous structure in tackling these diseases:

  • First of all, we have a recognized Genetics Service capable of diagnosing and responding in terms of clinic, laboratory and genetic counseling.
  • Secondly, we have well-coordinated multidisciplinary teams where, unlike the rest, we have an integrated Child Development and Early Care Center (CDIAP) and a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Center (CSMIJ). This means that our professionals from this indispensable center, together with the multidisciplinary team of the hospital, work together in the same spaces and therefore efficiency is maximized, as it will not be necessary to coordinate circuits and protocols with other centers. externs.
  • Thirdly, the importance of a good transition from the pediatric patient to the adult patient should be emphasized. Parc Taulí has both pediatric and adult specialties, thus allowing the creation of specialist units that provide service at all stages of the life of our patients and where, therefore, we again maximize efficiency, because it will not be necessary to coordinate circuits and protocols with other external centers.

Lastly, the marked nature of our institution in offering patient-centered care makes Parc Taulí a center of reference in the care and management of these diseases.
