Our hospital has a Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Unit to treat children with cancer in a comprehensive way, either from solid organs or tumors of any location, or from blood, such as leukemias.
This unit requires the collaboration of many hospital specialists who help the oncologist treat the disease: from intensive care specialists when the child is very serious, to the psychologist and family therapist to care. of the psychological and emotional aspects of the disease.
Hematology, on the other hand, deals with other non-oncological diseases of the blood: anemias, defects in red blood cells or hemoglobin, iron deficiencies, diseases of the other components of the blood.
The Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Unit belongs to the Pediatric Medicine Service.
