El immunosuppressive treatment it is a treatment that must be followed strictly for life, to avoid rejection of the transplanted kidney. Any medication that you are prescribed out of your usual guidelines should be consulted with your nephrologist, including herbal products that can induce or inhibit the effect of your immunosuppressive medication (St. John's wort, grapefruit juice, etc.).

Excess immunosuppressants increase the risk of developing opportunistic infections and developing neoplasms. All immunosuppressive drugs can have side effects, usually controllable. Do not stop taking them if they appear and consult your nephrologist.

The treatment is individualized and changed over time, blood levels can be determined in order to adjust the doses for maximum survival of the graft, with the best quality of life, minimizing the side effects of the treatment.
