Dealing with feelings of intense fear and constant anxiety about COVID-19, when these affect people's daily lives to the point of not wanting to leave home or not meeting other people. This is the main objective of the clinical study that has just been launched in Parc Taulí, specifically from the research group Affective Disorders of the Mental Health and Neurosciences Area of the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute. (I3PT).
The researchers are looking for volunteers from any part of Spain who are over 21 years old, and who have an affirmative answer to the following questions:
- Do you feel an intense urge to become infected with the COVID-19 virus?
- Do you have constant concern about having symptoms of COVID-19?
- Do you think this concern affects you in your day to day life? To the point of wanting to be with no one, of not leaving home, of hearing other people tell you that you are an exaggerator…
Participation, completely voluntary and confidential, consists of performing a series of attention exercises, over five days and for ten minutes each day, on a computer and remotely.
The study also requires the dedication of a few hours in the previous week - of preparation - and in the following week - of evaluation -.
Researchers will provide the necessary support to people who may have any technical difficulties with the computer when accessing the exercises, although this is a very easy and intuitive route.
People interested in participating should write directly to the address ansiedadcovid@tauli.cat.
