This February, a new edition of 'Cafès Científics' starts in Sabadell, an initiative organized by eight entities in the city that are dedicated to research and its dissemination and which aims to put the general public in contact with experts from different fields of science.
The Catalan Institute of Paleontology Miquel Crusafont (ICP), the Association for the Defense and Study of Nature (ADENC), the Astronomical Association of Sabadell, the Bosch i Cardellach Foundation, theParc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute-Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí, La Ruda friends of Can Deu for ecological agriculture and the Unió Excursionista de Sabadell (UES) and the Academy of Medical Sciences start this February the tenth edition of the Scientific Cafés program in Sabadell.
The goal is to offer citizens the opportunity to speak in a relaxed atmosphere and to exchange opinions on scientific topics with a reference expert. The space chosen for this conversation between science and society has traditionally been the bar of the Unió Excursionista premises on Carrer de la Salut. This year, however, the dynamics will change so that we can adapt to the current situation and thus comply with the maximum security protocols. In this way, the idea is to offer a mixed format offering, on the one hand, a capacity of up to 50% in the coffee of the UES (depending on the restrictions depending on the evolution of the pandemic) and, of the another, a connection in streaming with the possibility of intervening through a chat enabled.
De February to November, one Tuesday a month, at 7 p.m., each of the organizing entities that do research in science, or that have as one of their objectives to promote the knowledge of science and its results, will start a conversation around a topical issue. The invited person will briefly present the topic and establish a dialogue with the attendees who may raise their own doubts and reflections.
Science Cafés is a science outreach event held in many parts of the world that aims to stimulate conversation and critical thinking, debate, interaction and dialogue outside the academic environment. The Cafès Científics de Sabadell have been members of the international network of Scientific Cafés.
La talk starring I3PT will be held on April 26. Luis Blanch, doctor of Medicine specializing in Intensive Care Medicine, and director of the Institute, will give the talk "Lto technological innovation in the healthcare system. What do we do at the Taulí?“, In which he will invite the public to know up close what are the latest technological innovations in medical applications and what is the role of the Parc Taulí in the biomedical and health ecosystem.
