The Executive Committee of the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute approved at the meeting held on February 24 the unanimous appointment of Dr. Case Box as ombudsman of research at the I3PT, proposed by the Institutional Committee for Research and Innovation (CIRI) and the management of the Institute.
THEombudsman or Ombudsman acts as an independent agent when there is a suspicion of scientific misconduct or professional conflicts. He is a duly qualified figure with great personal integrity, who is accessible to all the research staff of the Institute. Its action is always carried out under parameters of strict discretion and confidentiality, so that the information is never disclosed to the governing bodies or management of the I3PT.
Also, theombudsman has the capacity to propose non-binding solutions, which must be approved by the governing bodies of the institution, but also has the power to act ex officio.
Dra. Caixàs, an endocrinologist at the Hospital's Endocrinology and Nutrition Service, is currently the coordinator of the I3PT's Metabolism and Digestive Research Area and head of the Prader Willi Obesity and Syndrome Research Group. which will continue to be carried out in parallel with theombudsman.
Since 2001, he has been working at Parc Taulí University Hospital, where he combines the clinical, teaching and research aspects. Likewise, Dr. Caixàs is a member of various national and international scientific associations and has been collaborating for some time with different research groups from other institutions.
