Cellers Maset and the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) have signed a collaboration agreement for the creation of the first Pau Massana Scholarship for Rare Diseases.
This scholarship is an initiative of the winery to raise funds and contribute, every year, €25.000 for research into diseases of low or very low prevalence in society.
To achieve this economic figure, the Penedesenc winery puts on sale 2.500 numbered bottles of Cava Solidarity of Cellers Maset. 100% of the collection will go to the creation of the Pau Massana Scholarship.
The collaboration between the two entities was formalized last September 14 with the director of the I3PT, Lluís Blanch, and the manager of the winery, Marc Massana.
The I3PT will open one early next year competitive scholarship addressed to research staff to finance a pulmonary clinical research project of theresearch area of Rare Diseases of the I3PT. The winery has expressed its desire to fund this scholarship annually to continue raising funds for minority disease research projects.
The name of the scholarship is a "small tribute to the youngest son of Josep Massana and Imma Torreño, Pau, who at the beginning of 2000 suffered from a minor lung disease", explains Marc Massana.
As the manager of the winery emphasizes, the cava Solidari Maset's organic brut nature "is a special blend of xarel·lo, macabeo and parellada aged for twelve months in rimes. It stands out for its freshness and its fragrant aromas of ripe white fruit, pastry and citrus on a background of chamomile and raw almond. A light and tasty cava ideal to accompany any get-together or a low-intensity starter”.
