THEParc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) celebrated this Friday the I Innovation Financing Forum in the framework of the Entrepreneurship Week, organized by theSabadell City Council. It is about the first investment forum to be organized in Spain by a public hospital.

The event, which was opened by Montserrat González, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Administrative Impulse of Sabadell City Council, and Glòria Palomar, I3PT management director, focused on introducing the different financing models and through crowdfunding that exist for startups, as well as the current investment mechanisms in the market and the different ways citizens have to participate in these companies.

In this sense, the experts have agreed on the importance of public-private collaboration to promote innovation in the biomedical sector and provide technological and creative solutions that respond to current health challenges. Likewise, they added that hospitals and research and innovation institutes must act with a business vision so that the knowledge and solutions generated have a economic return to both the institution and the territory and, in this process, the business fabric is fundamental.

As Palomar has highlighted "this forum was born for favor the results of our technological innovation projects and accelerate their arrival in society". "It is necessary for patients and the ecosystem to benefit from it and to do so as soon as possible, and one way to do that is by bringing private investors to our spin-offs."

During the event, which also had the participation of GENESIS Biomed and the Onion Network, the four spin-offs created in Parc Taulí –Better Care, Tailor Surgery, ANAIS Biomedical i Heecap– they have shared their success stories and made them known investment options they have open.

"At Better Care we have been working with hospital managers for more than 12 years to develop solutions that respond to the real needs of healthcare management and clinical practice. Without a doubt, forums like this are fundamental for the transfer of knowledge in terms of financing and the improvement of the industrialization of the territory, as well as a great opportunity for visibility", explained Bernat Sales López, director of operations and co-founder of Better Care, a company that has participated in the forum.
